Where it came from

It began with one trademark filing in March 2010

Baseboard Buddy began as one inventor’s answer to a chore. An individual in Arizona filed the trademark in March 2010, and the USPTO registered it in August 2011.

“a cleaning pad formed with a baseboard cleaning head”
The goods description in the USPTO trademark record

The filing sums up the whole product in one line. A pad, a head shaped for trim and a handle: the tool on sale today still fits it.

The road so far

From a filing to a box on the shelf

  1. 12 March 2010

    Filed

An individual in Arizona files the BASEBOARD BUDDY trademark for hand-held baseboard cleaning implements.

  2. 23 August 2011

    Registered

The USPTO registers the mark under no. 4016645. The record is still live.

  3. Later

    A new owner

Allstar Marketing Group of Hawthorne, New York, becomes the owner on record. The box names Allstar Innovations as the manufacturer and carries the As Seen on TV badge.

  4. Today

    On sale

The range is small on purpose: the cleaning tool and a pack of 20 replacement pads.

The design

Three ideas the tool is built on

  • Reaching the top of a door casing from the floor

    Stand up

The aluminum handle extends up to 4 feet. It reaches the floor while you stand, and the top of a door frame from the floor.

  • The swivel joint behind the cleaning head

    Follow the trim

A flexible head on a 360° swivel meets a baseboard, a door casing or a stair at its own angle.

  • Wrapping a fresh pad onto the cleaning head

    Rinse and reuse

The microfiber pad measures 6.5 x 5 inches and works dry or wet. Rinse it under the tap and wrap it on again.

Buyers

What buyers make of it

  • 4.0out of 5 for the cleaning tool
  • 24,806buyer ratings
  • 55%of them five stars

Not every buyer is happy: 8% of the ratings are one star. The usual complaints are handle sections that work loose and a head that slips off the edge under heavy pressure.

Who we are

We are an independent guide. Allstar makes Baseboard Buddy, and we are a separate outfit with no ties to it. We read the product descriptions, the box and buyer reviews, and set out what the tool does, what it costs and where it falls short.

When you follow a button to our retail partner and buy, we may earn a commission. It does not change the price you pay.
