What Baseboard Buddy does

Baseboard Buddy puts a cleaning pad at the end of a long handle. The pad wraps a flexible plastic head. Set it on a baseboard and it covers the top edge and the face of the board in one pass.

The handle is aluminum and weighs little. It extends up to 4 feet, which reaches the floor from a standing position and the top of a door frame from the floor. The head turns on a swivel joint to meet the trim at any angle.

The textured pads trap and lock in dust, dirt and grime, in the brand’s words. They work dry or wet. After a session, rinse the pad and use it again.

Who it suits and who it does not

A good fit if

  • You clean long runs of baseboard and want to stay on your feet.
  • You dust door casings and trim that sit above your reach.
  • You want a pad you can rinse and reuse.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need to scrub caked grime. The head slips off the edge under heavy pressure.
  • You want a rigid, one-piece pole. The sections can work loose and need a twist now and then.
  • Your trim is mostly tight corners and short runs. A cloth is quicker there.

This or that

The tool or the 20 pads?

Take the tool if you do not own a Baseboard Buddy yet: the pads are useless without the head. Take the 20 pads if your tool is fine and its three pads are worn.

Buyer reviews

I like this product!

I ordered this baseboard buddy & I really like this product. As a 70 something year old, I find it difficult to bend down on my knees to clean the baseboards. This product makes it easy because you just brush it over the baseboards, no bending down on your knees. The long handle also makes it easy to reach the moldings too. You can use it wet or dry. I recommend this product.

Helps my back but needs improvements

This does help me clean the baseboards without having to bend or squad down, I wish the pole is more sturdy. When I put any pressure down to clean the pole will bow a little bit, makes me worry about it breaking… The head piece also keeps unscrewing itself, I’m going to try using some thread seal tape to see if it helps. The head piece also kept on turning too easily and I can’t tighten it any more to make it turn less, and when it turns it will slide off the baseboard then I would have to readjust it before continuing cleaning. Not sure if that’s part of the design or a defective product… Overall, it is a very good tool to save your back, but maybe it’s more compatible if you are only doing quick light dust cleaning.

Gets the job done, but could have been so much better...

First off, yes, this thing works as promised. With minimal effort, it got my really nasty baseboards (two dogs, three cats, years of neglect--and white paint to boot) very clean, with fairly minimal effort. But, there are at least three major problems with this, all of which could easily have been made right, that keep it from being what it should have been: 1) The handle WILL NOT stay tightly screwed in no matter what you do. I'll likely resort to using tape to keep mine tight, but that's pretty lame, don't you agree? 2) The pads are very absorbent, but no matter how hard you try, you cannot wring them out. The result is a mess beneath the baseboards you are cleaning, and worse, a drippy mess back to your sink or bucket afterwards. 3) The head is fixed in place, and it should have been made to pivot. I assumed it would pivot initially, and fortunately, I didn't try too hard to make it move, or I may have broken it. Nope, it's molded plastic and fixed in place, so you have to contort your arms and hands into weird angles to make up for this. For what this cost, especially, these things should have been addressed. But at the end of the day, I'm admiring my shiny baseboards and relatively satisfied, regardless.

Great product

The baseboard buddy is very durable. It was easy to assemble and it is very easy to use and I use the same thing at work.

Not sure if really worth the $$

We’ve never cleaned our baseboards in our new home and it’s been almost a year lol they’re filthy and needed a good cleaning. I purchased a spin brush to REALLY scrub and this to wipe them clean. I do like the size of the pads and how they absorb and clean but I don’t think this is worth the $25 bucks. Maybe if it came with a bigger pack of pads. I thought it rotated a bit more freely but it doesn’t, you kinda pick an angle and lock it in. I think I’ll use this for regular wipe downs now and hopefully it’ll last.

Nice Concept FAILED Product

I thought this would be great to dust the base boards and not have to bend down or walk on my hands and knees. The concept is great, the actual functionality is terrible. When you put any type of pressure while cleaning the base board this moves and causes it to fall off of the lip of the base board. I ended up being so frustrated I threw it in my closet. Maybe I will find a different use for it .. if not garbage!

Questions

About the cleaning tool

Does the Baseboard Buddy handle come apart for storage?

Yes. The handle is built from screw-together sections that extend up to 4 feet, and the box describes it as collapsible: it breaks down for storage in a closet or a drawer.

Does the Baseboard Buddy head swivel?

Yes, the brand describes a 360° swivel between the handle and the head. Buyers add that the joint does not spin freely: you choose an angle for the wall and it holds.

How long is the Baseboard Buddy handle?

The Baseboard Buddy handle extends up to 4 feet. It is made of aluminum sections that screw together, so you can run it shorter for a mantel or a window sill.

Can you use Baseboard Buddy wet?

Yes, Baseboard Buddy works dry or wet. For wet cleaning, dampen 1 pad lightly with water or a household cleaner, because a soaked pad drips and is hard to wring.

What comes in the Baseboard Buddy box?

1 Baseboard Buddy cleaning tool and 3 reusable microfiber pads. The handle arrives in sections and screws together without tools.
