Pads

Baseboard Buddy pad care

The pads are the only part that wears. Looked after, each one cleans many walls.

Used pad holding dust and lint after a pass
  1. Rinse right away

Dust washes out of a damp pad in seconds. Left to dry, it sets into the fibers. Hold the pad under warm running water and rub the face with your thumb.

  2. Squeeze, do not wring

Press the pad flat between your palms. Twisting pulls the fibers off the backing, and buyers who wring hard report pads coming apart.

  3. Dry it flat or hung

Hang the pad over the tap or lay it on the edge of the sink. Put it back on the head only when it is dry, or the hook and loop strips stay damp.

  4. Rotate the three

Use one pad dry, one damp and keep one in reserve. They wear at the same pace and you never start a room with a wet pad.

What to keep away from the pads

  • Chlorine bleach. The pads are microfiber, and bleach damages it.
  • Abrasive powders. They cling to the pad and scratch painted trim on the next pass.

However, microfiber cloths can be damaged by high pH and therefore are not compatible with all disinfectant products (especially chlorine-based). Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Signs a pad is done

  • It stays grey after a good rinse.
  • The fibers lie flat and feel smooth.
  • It no longer grips the head.
  • The edge has frayed back to the backing.

Questions

Pad care

Can you use bleach on Baseboard Buddy pads?

Skip it: Baseboard Buddy says water or a household cleaner, and the CDC notes that chlorine-based products can damage microfiber. 1 rinse in warm water with a drop of dish soap is enough.

When should you replace a Baseboard Buddy pad?

Replace a pad when it stays grey after a rinse, when the fibers lie flat, or when it no longer grips the head. A box has 3 pads, so rotate them and they wear evenly.

Can you put Baseboard Buddy pads in the washing machine?

No machine cycle is given: the brand says to rinse and reuse, and 1 of its refill packs is labeled hand wash. Wash pads by hand in warm water.
